Art Deco 1930’s FONTANA ARTE ITALY Table LAMPS Chiesa INGRAND Gio Ponti Modern
Absolutely stunning post Art Deco era Glass & Brass pair of table lamps attributed to Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte, the legendary glass company founded by Architect/Designer Gio Ponti. These lamps bear all the characteristics of pre-war Fontana Arte work specifically the designs of Pietro Chiesa or Max Ingrand. This is a stunning matched pair; however, unfortunately, one hand made Opaline glass shade is missing. Perhaps another could be sourced from the Modernist dungeons of Italy. Perhaps one could be custom fabricated. These are true rare jewels. Photo 12: of a documented Pietro Chiesa lamp, and the following text are both courtesy of Liz O’Obrien a NYC design & decorative art dealer extraordinaire. Pietro Chiesa, who in the early 1920s participated in the Venice Biennale as well as the Expostion des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, joined Fontana Arte in 1932 at the request of Gio Ponti. It was here that Chiesa would share in Ponti’s artistic direction to create his expressive, modern pieces. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Lamps, Lighting\Lamps”.
