A rare pair of beautiful petit pendants by Hettier et Vincent. An authentic 1930 F rench art deco hanging fixture in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holding a beautiful bowl made by. Des Hanots was like Verlys one of the brands of the large Holophane glass company. It’s done in glass pressed in a mould, made opaque by acid and highlighted by glossy transparent polished parts. The shade represents flowers and butterflies. The larger bowl is a lot harder to find than the globes and is almost always signed Hettier et Vincent France, like the ones on offer here. Hettier & Vincent was a large well known French lighting company producing high quality items. Wholesale and retailer with its shop at the prestigeous and beautiful Place de Vosges in Paris. A pendant with an identical bowl is represented in the 1st supplement of the Hettier Vincent catalog on page 122. The same catalog also shows the H&V canopy (see pictures). The catalog is of coarse no part of this sale. The chandeliers are in excellent condition. I have renickeled and patinated the mountings. The bowls have a diameter of 27 cm (10-5/8). The oendants have a height of about 34,5 cm (13-37/64). They are rewired and hold an American standard socket. For European countries I will place E27 ones. For most countries like Europe or the US such sockets are practicaly impossible to use. For instance in the States 110 volt bulbs with B22 fitters are obscure, very hard to find and only one model bulb in very limited wattages is available. In spite of what sellers of unrestored pieces of poor quality claim in their ads when they offer lamps with bayonet caps sockets : except for the UK and Australia French chandeliers and lamps need to be rewired for your country. In order to fit Edison large or small screw base bulbs as used in the USA, B22 sockets have to be replaced by American candelabra base or standard/medium size Edison screw-in sockets. E14 and E27 are modern replacements for European countries. An additional complication is that the size thread used in early French lighting to connect the sockets to the chandelier mountings or lamp bases is not compatible with the modern size threads used in the USA and Europe. New American or European sockets do not just screw on to the old lamp fixtures. In order to make it possible to use an original old French chandelier or lamp with modern screw bulb bases, a specialized restorer will have to re-tap the threads. All my cleaned and restored chandeliers, sconces and lamps come rewired with the correct sockets you will need to use modern bulbs in your country.
