From a clean, smoke, and pet FREE home. This rare and original Art Deco flapper lamp was realized in the United States, circa 1930. In the center of the piece, a lady in a 1930s style dress- inscribed with lemniscate (infinity) decoration- kneels on a beveled base with a geometric cubist patterned border and streamlined sides. She holds up a garland- a motif culled from classical Greek mythology- that appears to be made of stylized bay laurel leaves replete with dogwood flowers and roses. She looks up towards an orbital shade with protruding pyramid forms composed of end of day glass- created using shards of colored glass harvested from the day’s work in the glass making studio. The colorful glass offers a kaleidoscopic array of colors, including hues of persimmon, lilac, tangerine and lemon. Depicted looking upwards towards this glowing and ebullient form, this piece embodies optimism towards a bright future during a challenging era in American history (in the wake of the Great depression). Thus this represents not only a captivating object, but an important piece of American Art Deco design history (and history in general), sure to delight any avid collector of the period. It has been newly rewired and is in excellent condition. Glass shade has a small portion of glass missing on one side of the rim which seemed intentional, or perhaps a production discrepancy, there are also a couple chips in various spots around the rim (please see last 2 photos for details), in any case, once the glass shade is placed on the lamp, none of these imperfections will show. The glass shade fits securely around the neck of lamp without any screws. Please enlarge photos as they are part of the description. Approximate dimensions: 5″ W x 6.25 L x 20.5″ T.
