Shell houses the bulb in a ceramic housing. Bulb can rest in the interior or be screwed into the very back of the shell which would require removal of the back screw of the shell to anchor the bracket although. The wiring has some nicks in the plastic but wires under are still encased in plastic, no copper showing this could easily be replaced for a couple dollars as it is wired at the base of the lamp.
