A French 1930 art deco hanging fixture in nickel plated solid bronze or brass holding a beautiful bowl by Muller freres in thick moulded-pressed glass. Partly frosted partly glossy transparent glass giving the shade a vivid structure and appearance. The chandelier has a drop of 56.5 cm (22-1/4″) and a diameter a little over 40 cm (15-3/4″). The chandelier is in excellent condition. I have renickeled the mounting. And it’s newly wired with an American standard socket. I will place a E27 one for European countries. Check out over 300 other French art deco lamps in my shop. French lamps and wiring. Art deco lamps made in France were equiped with B22 bayonet sockets. For most countries like Europe or the US such sockets are practicaly impossible to use. For instance in the States 110 volt bulbs with B22 fitters are obscure, very hard to find and only one model bulb in very limited wattages is available. In spite of what sellers of unrestored pieces of poor quality claim in their ads when they offer lamps with bayonet caps sockets : except for the UK and Australia French chandeliers and lamps need to be rewired for your country. In order to fit Edison large or small screw base bulbs as used in the USA, B22 sockets have to be replaced by American candelabra base or standard/medium size Edison screw-in sockets. E14 and E27 are modern replacements for European countries. An additional complication is that the size thread used in early French lighting to connect the sockets to the chandelier mountings or lamp bases is not compatible with the modern size threads used in the USA and Europe. In order to make it possible to use an original old French chandelier or lamp with modern screw bulb bases, a specialized restorer will have to re-tap the threads. A signed French art deco pendant around 1930 in nickel plated bronze or solid brass holding a beautiful shade by Degué in frosted pressed glass. Normaly most French art deco bowls are frosted on the outside and remained glossy on the inside of the bowl. Sometimes, but it’s rare, we can find Degué Schneider or Muller freres shades that are glossy on the outside and were made mat by acid on the inside. Like we can see on this chandelier with a beautiful bowl by Degué the glass company of David Guéron that produced art deco shades from 1926 till 1936. It´s is in very good condition. I have renickeled and patinated the authentic fixture. The shade has a diameter of 35 cm (13-3/4). The chandelier has a height of 68 cm (26-3/4). The pendant is rewired and holds three US candelabra base sockets. For Europe I will wire it with three E14 sockets. Check out over 300 other French art deco lamps in my shop. The four panels are signed. The matching side-shades are an EJG model that is never signed. The chandelier has a height of 66 cm (26) and a diameter of 81 cm (some 32 inches) that’s 66x66cm in square. The high quality fixture is newly replated and patinated. And the lamp is rewired. It holds 4 US standard and 4 candelabra base sockets. For European countries I will place E14 and E27 ones. Jean Gauthier had his first workshop at 12-14 rue Jean Robert in Paris and later expended with factories in the town of Ezanville. In the early days just after the first worldwar Gauthier made cameo shades that were sometimes signed. The plants in Ezanville were opened for the production of art deco glassware in moulded-pressed glass. Many art deco models are unsigned. Some are signed EJG for. Gauthier based on the streetname of the first workshop. In the 30s Gauthier started a line of shades done in opalescent semi-crystal, mainly cups. Some models are unsigned.
