Art Deco Boudoir / Desk Lamp. W/ CZECH Art Glass Shade. From estate storage a circa 1930s art deco Bellova boudoir lamp or desk lamp with signed Bellova Czechoslovakia shade. Classic enameled Acorn base with original Bellova socket. Acid etched and reverse painted glass shade signed BELLOVA CZECHOSLOVAKIA. The lamp is in perfect working condition with absolutely no damage to the shade. The push button switch is missing the button cap on one side.

Offered is a great little antique art deco Bellova Boudoir Lamp. The shade signed on the reverse painted interior “Bellova Czechoslovakia” on one of the medallions joined by swags. The exterior of the shade starts pale blue at top and shades to pale amber with a floral pattern etched through the colors. The shade is 4 1/2″ tall 5 1/2″ across the open bottom and 3 across the dimpled solid blue top. The base is finely embossed with deco leaf motifs, columns and beading and is labeled. Trade Mark Bellova H. McFaddin & Co NY. The mechanism is push button. Original Spider holds the glass shade. Original cloth covered wire is fraying but works well but should be replaced for safety. Original Bryant signed bakelite plug. Lamp is 8 to socket. 12 1/4 to top of shade. Takes regular base bulb but I’ve always used small size bulbs (fan size). Very good condition with just a small nick on the inside rim of the shade, last photo which does not show during use. Wear consistent with age to the painted surfaces. This is a beautiful Vintage Pair of Art Deco Acid Etched Reverse Painted Bellova Boudoir Lamps. Both lamps are signed Bellova (one is signed on the inside and the other is signed on the outside top near the fitter rim) however, most of the signatures have worn off over the years. One of the bases has a Bellova tag on the socket and the other base has a replaced socket. Both the shades and the bases are original to one another and they are a matching pair. One of the top shade caps was painted in the past. Also, in the pictures one of the lamps looks darker it is just the light bulb, they are both identical. No damage or repair but, they show normal wear for their age mostly on the bases (see pictures). Both are wired and in working condition however they probably should be rewired. Each measures 14” tall. Each shade measures 8” diameter by 4 3/4” tall and the bases are 5” in diameter. Please ask all questions 24 hours before end of listing. This is from an antique lighting collection – we have many more lamps from the same collection – see our other items! There is a patent date of 5-31-21 on the original brass collar (1921). The glass shade is made by Bellova. See this pattern online as a Bellova pattern. Bellova is a Czechoslovakian maker of gorgeous art glass shades dating back to the early 1900’s. Bellova shades are famous for their intricate designs achieved through acid-etching, painting by hand and airbrush. This glass is thick and has lovely matte finish details. The solid brass top piece, chain and ceiling mount have all been polished. Total height including chain and ceiling mount is 28 (can be shortened by removing links of chain, if desired).
