This is a mid-century boudoir / accent table lamp, likely late 1930s-1950s, built around. Satin / frosted green glass base often called. Though this one doesn’t scream uranium-just the look. Pressed glass construction with that soft, velvety matte finish. Stamped metal socket with push-knob switch (classic early electric era hardware). A period flame-tip bulb marked “Austria” (that’s a nice touch-more on that below). The Bulb (the star of the show). That flame bulb isn’t just doing its job-it’s auditioning for Broadway. Likely mid-century decorative flame bulb, not original to the base but absolutely. The swirled glass gives that “gas flame illusion” -a nostalgic nod to oil/gas lighting. This is where it sells. Think 1930s vanity table, perfume bottles, brushed hair, soft glow. Or 1940s-50s bedroom accent lamp, low light, warm tone, cozy corner. It walks the line between. Early Mid-Century Modern simplicity. And just a hint of Depression glass influence. Base: Molded satin glass, likely U. Production (no visible maker mark, which is common). Austrian pottery Wiener Werkstatte style lamp Art Deco 1920s. This is a wonderful Austrian lamp from the 1920s that has a Wiener Werkstatte style flair to it. Possibly produced by Wiener Kunstkeramisch and designed by Johanna Meier-Michel. The lamp is 23 1/2 inches high overall with a 7 1/2 inch wide base. The pottery lady is just short of 12 inches by herself. She has a wonderful array of colors. Her dress is a yellow/green color, she has a blue top and holding a basket of flowers. She rests on a brass base that has a nice floral design. The rest of the lamp is brass also and has a 2 inch adjustment for the shade at the very top. There is a very tiny nick in her hair and on the edge of her dress. There is a tight hairline running up the side of her dress that starts at the bottom and is 3 1/2 inches long. The hairline is hidden behind the lamp rod that runs behind her and can’t be seen. There are some numbers (2139) impressed on the inside of her dress. An impressive GENUINE antique early 1920s porcelain lamp with lady figurine in period dress. Hand decorated in off white, black and gold. Lovely modeled and most likely designed by Lorenzl for the Goldscheider porcelain factory. Lovely dress in an ivory color with gilt trim, and adorned with a typical art deco hat. No markings found, but very similar figurines were made just like this lady, however not made into a lamp. Therefore, this lamp figurine is super rare, not yet another one seen. The antique porcelain and brass bulb socket with on/off switch is made by P&S Pass & Seymour Inc. It requires one US standard bulb. Height of porcelain: 12. Height total with shade harp: 24. Condition is excellent, porcelain is faintly crackled, and the gilt is slightly rubbed, consistent with its age and usage. The electrical wiring has been replaced with vintage looking new cloth covered wiring and wall plug. They are part of the condition and description. The lamp will be well wrapped and packed.
