Louis Ravaud & Degué. A nice French art deco flush mount around 1930. The nice ceiling fixture is done in wrought iron and holds a bowl by the famous Degué glass company in frosted moulded-pressed glass. This model Degué shade is never signed. It is represented in the old Degué catalog (see last pictures). The mount was made by the Lyon France based company of the blacksmith Louis Ravaud who made art deco lighting in wrought iron during the interbellum. A similar smaller version is represented in the Ravaud product catalog. The flush mount has a total diameter of about 39 cm (15,3″) and a height of 17,5 cm (6,9″). The shade has a diameter of 20 cm. The flush mount is in very good condition. The iron fixture has a nice egg gloss patina. The lamp is rewired with an american standard base socket. For European countries I will place a E27 one. Check out over 300 other French art deco lamps in my shop. French lamps and wiring. Art deco lamps made in France were equiped with B22 bayonet sockets. For most countries like Europe or the US such sockets are practicaly impossible to use. For instance in the States 110 volt bulbs with B22 fitters are obscure, very hard to find and only one model bulb in very limited wattages is available. In spite of what sellers of unrestored pieces of poor quality claim in their ads when they offer lamps with bayonet caps sockets : except for the UK and Australia French chandeliers and lamps need to be rewired for your country. In order to fit Edison large or small screw base bulbs as used in the USA, B22 sockets have to be replaced by American candelabra base or standard/medium size Edison screw-in sockets. E14 and E27 are modern replacements for European countries. An additional complication is that the size thread used in early French lighting to connect the sockets to the chandelier mountings or lamp bases is not compatible with the modern size threads used in the USA and Europe. New American or European sockets do not just screw on to the old lamp fixtures. In order to make it possible to use an original old French chandelier or lamp with modern screw bulb bases, a specialized restorer will have to re-tap the threads. All my cleaned and restored chandeliers, sconces and lamps come rewired with the correct sockets you will need to use modern bulbs in your country. Lampe répertoriée au catalogue dépoque du fabri. Ant, ce n’est pas un remontage. En fer nickelé et verre pressé. À Lyon dans les années 30. À son catalogue commercial. Est caractéristique de la production de l’entreprise lyonnaise. À relief pressé, nickelage patiné vieil argent, verrerie. Pressée de fabrication française. Signée Sonover pour Société Normande de Verrerie. Le pied en fer forgé repose sur une platine carrée de 11 cm rehaussée par quatre boules et ses montants sont décorés de pastilles sur les quatre faces. Ces montants ne sont soudés quà la base et les bras peuvent sécarter et maintenir la tulipe au plus près. Le métal présente ça et là quelques traces d’oxydation partielle mais sa patine demeure intègre. La tulipe signée Sonover (photo 4) est en verre dépoli blanc et affiche un décor en draperie avec une frise florale dans sa partie inférieure (photo 10). Cette verrerie est également en très bon état, sans éclat ni fel, avec quelques égrenures dusage aux points de contact et quelques petites bulles dair inhérentes aux procédés de fabrication du verre de cette époque. Mesure 28,5 cm de hauteur et pèse 1,1 kilo. A été recâblée avec un fil neuf torsadé gainé de tissu noir, la douille. Est en laiton nickelé à baïonnette B22. Prise et interrupteur sont neufs.
