Rare Art Deco Louise Brooks Goebel Porcelain Crafted Perfume Lamp Figurine
1920’s Art Deco Goebel Perfume Lamp Figurine Only – Bavaria, Germany. Delicately detailed Art Deco porcelain perfume lamp figurine. Fragrance lamps were used to warm oil that is placed in a small well inside the lamp. A small bulb warmed the oil to disperse the fragrance into the air. This lamp design was inspired by the 1920’s silent film flapper actress Louise Brooks who popularized the sleek black bob haircut. Figurine is fashioned with stark manicured eyebrows and vivid green eye shadow and red lips. She is draped in grand plush white robes finely draped to the ground. Made of Bavarian porcelain, it is stamped with the early Goebel crown mark and the letter H. 7 1/2″ tall x 4″ widest point. Known for producing Hummel decorative pieces, in particular handcrafted figurines, Goebel was founded in January 1871 in Bavaria, Germany by Franz Detleff Goebel, a porcelain merchant, and his son William.
