French antique Art Deco Painted Ceiling Lamp

When you think of French Art Deco colors, you think of black and white, chrome, silver and bright red. You rarely think of soft orange and pink, and purple the color of ice cream. The stark colors are complemented by the best materials the age could offer – chrome and nickel, aluminum, stainless steel and tropical wood. And if it is glass, it should be opalescent and molded. That is why this lamp is such a discovery. Made in Paris in the late 1930s, it would be more at home in the tropics, with its beautiful warm combination of colors and the soft light they produce. When you look at the painted pattern you realize how deceptively simple it is. Like anything Deco, it has its elegance but also, unlike some of the pieces, it has real warmth. The lamp/light needs to be wired to local specifications. Last but not least, the glass is in perfect condition – another rarity. Depth of Bowl: 8 cm (3.2 inches). Diameter of Bowl: 43 cm (17 inches). Distance from Ceiling 60 cm (23.6 inches).
