Superb Original 1927 Frankart Double. Art Deco Lamp with Skyscraper Shade. All Original 1927 Art Deco Design by Arthur von Frankenberg (1889 – 1950) for Frankart, Patent D77201, Model # L211, Featuring Two’Au Naturel’ Nudes on their Tip-Toes, in Original Black Enamel Finish, Supporting an Art Deco Skyscraper Frosted Shade with Polished Corners. One of the most highly-desired of all Frankart Art Deco Lamps, the double nude lamp is in Very Good Original Condition with some light wear and 95% of its original enamel paint, with no cracks, splits, or restorations observed. It has its Original Unique Teardrop Turnbuckle Switch and Light Socket with a period cloth replica twisted lamp cord (some of my pics still show the old lamp cord). I’ve taken some pics with several vintage 15-25 watt colored light bulbs (that I stole from my hubby’s antique light bulb collection) to show off the beauty of this gorgeous Art Deco Lamp using different lighting. I will include them all with the lamp if desired. Originated in 1922 when sculptor Arthur Von Frankenberg showcased his work to Henry Underberg at the Old World Arts Store, joining forces with caster George Murad. Von Frankenberg remained with the company until 1932 when the partners split. His pieces are celebrated for their distinctive portrayal of the female form. Unlike competitors like Nuart, who adhered to the standard 6-head height proportion for their nudes, Von Frankenberg used an 8-head proportion, as seen in fashion illustration, creating long, lithe figures. Yet, it’s his unique faces that set his work apart. While other sculptors crafted detailed faces, Frankart’s figures possess barely suggested, indistinct features-yet remain the most emotive and expressive in their genre. This characteristic elevates Von Frankenberg’s sculptures to high art, making Frankart figural lamps the most sought-after and valuable deco female nude artworks.
