1920s R LALIQUE Art Deco Lamp Green Ronces VASE
1920s R LALIQUE Art Deco Lamp – Green Ronces. Overall height including finial approx. Base footprint: 5 1/2 diam. Lalique glass section alone: 9 1/2 tall x approx. Shade alone: 12 1/4 diam. X 10 1/2 tall. Antique lamp incorporating a RENE LALIQUE green “Ronces” vase. 2 socket lamp with pull chain switches. Molded green glass vase with contrasting mat and polished finish in the Ronces pattern (bramble branch). This lamp also features gilt bronze and/or brass fittings with weighted base and a Chinese pierce-carved wood pedestal with gilt finish. Maker’s marks: exterior vase hand signed “R Lalique”; bottom hand signed “France”; bottom additionally signed “R Lalique” in the mold. The lamp components are unsigned. The included lamp shade is a tasteful custom made replacement. I suspect the finial is not original. The lamp was rewired at some point and has a short, gold rayon cord with easily removable plug. Otherwise the lamp appears to be all original. I have seen identical examples of this lamp (identical fittings, all with green Ronces vase). I suspect this lamp was produced by one of a number of American lamp companies known for incorporating American and European art glass and art pottery components (such as Crest, Chicago, for example). Because the vase is signed R. I do not know if the vase would have been drilled by Lalique or the American lamp company that bought them. More photos available on request. Shade is in excellent original condition with no damage and no significant wear. There is a bruise/flake to the mouth of the vase with a shallow flake to the exterior lip approx. 1/2″ long x 1/4″ wide. Other scattered small flakes fleabites to exterior lip. See several photos of the mouth. Notice that this damage is not visible when the lamp is assembled. Otherwise the drilled vase is in excellent original condition with no other damage or significant wear. No restorations / repairs. No other bruises, flakes, chips, nicks, fleabites, etc. No scratches or scuffs. No significant scratches or rubs. The vase generally appears clean as found (I did not attempt any cleaning of the vase), but please consult photos. The lamp is functional as found with no issues. Both switches pull on and off with no issues. There are a couple of small tight splits to the bottom section of one of the brass socket housings but this does not affect the function of the lamp. I have visually inspected the cord and plug — the insulation is in excellent, pliable condition with no damage or wear. I have not inspected concealed wiring and connections. As a general rule I recommend having vintage lamps inspected by a professional before using in your home. All lamp components are generally in excellent original condition with no damage and no significant wear. No dents, bends, breaks, cracks. No corrosion or significant oxidation. Notice that there is some scattered age-related chipping and loss to the gilt finish on the carved wood pedestal but no damage to the pedestal itself.
