RARE ORIGINAL ART DECO 1920’s GLASS GREEN FROG NOVELTY TABLE LAMP
RARE ORIGINAL ART DECO 1920’s GLASS GREEN FROG NOVELTY TABLE LAMP. 16.1cm (6 3/8″) high x 4 7/8″ long x 4 1/8 wide. A highly unusual Art Deco novelty moulded glass lamp in the shape of a seated frog. It could conceivably could be a toad if it’s skin is spotted. The oval metal base is moulded in relief with lily pads. The lamp is really in the naturalistic Art Nouveau style although probably made in the Deco period. Possibly French or Continental. I suspect it is very difficult to find a similar example. The glass seems to have a pale orange tinge and the surface is a green colour. The lamp displays beautifully and operates perfectly. I might suggest using a low wattage bulb or smaller size than the current to avoid too much heat and to get a softer glowing effect which was probably originally intended. A rare attractive and quirky novelty item that would fit with most interiors. The item “RARE ORIGINAL ART DECO 1920’s GLASS GREEN FROG NOVELTY TABLE LAMP” is in sale since Thursday, August 15, 2019.
