FRANKART T335 ASHSTAND This stunning American Art Deco smoker’s stand was designed by Arthur Von Frankenberg for Frankart Inc in the 1920s. Model T335 from the Frankart catalog, it shows off 3 nude maidens beautifully sculpted in the Art Deco manner. It’s style highly reminiscent of the 1927 metropolis movie with it’s’futuristic’ geometric form and stylized ladies. As described in the original catalog: Three nudes combine to support a removable six inch pottery bowl for ashes. This is a large heavy piece and quite dramatic. An iconic Frankart design. It has had one of the original colours (roman green) professionally matched and has been applied over the entire piece. It presents in wonderful condition. A highly collectible item that is sure to delight any discerning collector of the period. Due to numerous questions in regards to a signature. This is definitely NOT the sarsaparilla restrike. Those are marked by sarsaparilla and can also incorporate the original frankart signature on some models along with the sarsaparilla mark (like the spirit of modernism one they redid). For the 3 graces produced by them, those deviated considerably from the original and the base is entirely different. This has the base like the original, and much more age. I added a photo (last one) of what it is like prior to painting. A non painted base with painted ladies. I still do not see a Frankart signature. I don’t know why but Arthur Von Frankenburg decided to part ways with his other two business associates due to an unfair business setup so this may explain discrepancies in some genuinely old frankart items that do not bear the frankart mark.
