Art deco Jugendstil bronze Table Lamp Roland Paris, Circus Juggling Globe Walker
A beautiful designed, figurative. Friedrich Richard Roland Paris, born in 1894 in Vienna, Austria and died in 1945 in Swinemunde, Germany. The stand depicts an Asian circus artist preforming a balancing act, while juggling. He is standing on a ball, or globe, with the shade balancing on his forehead. Juggling with one ball in his hand, the other two balls are in the air and are to pul the light switch. The juggler is dressed in a short, detailed decorated kimono, held with a belt or obi. Underneath that a loincloth? And maillot-like pants, he is wearing soft shoes. He has long hair, put in a bun at the back of his head. De decoration and details are very fine, his hair and finger nails are delicately shown. The patine is beautiful warm and shiny, no stains, very minor signs of age and use. The shade is formed as a circus tent top with at every point a little bronze or brass ball. The shade is made of a sturdy metal frame, professionaly covered with fabric (shade silk), the fabric has been replaced during the former ownership and is in excellent condition. The electric device is fitted for 220 Volt , and carries 3 light bulbs. There is 1 main switch on the long wire, 1 bulb works by pulling a ball, 1 is not working when pulled, 1 works with a porcelain turn switch. Height: circa 70 cm / 27.5 inch. Width of the shade: circa 50 cm / 20 inch. Weight: circa 4800 gr. This is now a 220 volt device. Although the lamp is found to be in working and safe order in our house at this moment.
